
Clive Hamilton is the author of Growth Fetish (Allen & Unwin 2003) and Affluenza (Allen & Unwin 2005), and Executive Director of The Australia Institute, Australia's foremost public interest think tank. Described as ‘Australia's most amazing economist', he has held visiting positions at the Australian National University, the University of Sydney and the University of Cambridge. He appears regularly in the media commentating on issues including trade policy, industry economics, environmental issues, community values and ethics, measure of well-being and contemporary Australian political developments, and is the author of seven books. Growth Fetish has been translated into several languages and was described by the Australian Review of Political Economy as ‘a call to arms for the No Logo generation’, ‘powerfully and potentially transformative’ by Rev. Tim Costello, as well as ‘...silly, dangerous, left-wing crap’ by former NSW Treasure Michael Egan.
Sarah Maddison lectures in the School of Social Sciences
and International Studies at the University of New South Wales. She is the author of Activist Wisdom (UNSW Press, 2005), has published many chapters and journal articles on subjects ranging from democracy, feminism, indigenous issues and as an Australian political scientist she has been engaged in the study of Australian activism and dissent for close to a decade. Sarah has also contributed regular commentary pieces in several newspapers including The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Courier Mail. She was also a former Research and Policy Officer for the NSW Department for Women and a Juvenile Justice Officer for the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice.
Geoffrey Barker is a senior journalist at the Australian Financial Review. He writes mainly on defence, foreign affairs and national security policy, but has an ongoing interest in the Australian Public Service.
Helen Ester teaches journalism at Central Queensland University and is completing a doctorate at Griffith University. She worked as a journalist member of the federal parliamentary press gallery between 1976 and 1982.
Harry Evans is Clerk of the Senate. He is the editor or author of several works on constitutional and parliamentary matters.
Ian Lowe (AO FTSE) is Emeritus Professor of science, technology and society at Griffith University and President of the Australian Conservation Foundation.
Andrew Macintosh is Deputy Director of the Australia Institute. He has degrees in economics and law from the University of Sydney and previously practised as an environment and planning lawyer in Melbourne and Sydney.
Stuart Macintyre is Professor of History at the University of Melbourne. In 2007 he will take up the chair of Australian studies at Harvard University.
Andrew Wilkie is a former Army lieutenant colonel and senior
intelligence analyst. He resigned from the Office of National
Assessments over the Iraq war in March 2003. He is the author of
Axis of Deceit.
